Eccles Archery Club
Welcome to the Eccles Archery Club web page

Based on the western edge of Greater Manchester, EAC was founded 1953. We are affiliated to the Lancashire Archery Association (LAA), the Northern Counties Archery Society (NCAS) and the Grand National Archery Society (GNAS),

Our grounds are secure with 24-7 access for members. Recurve, compound, longbow and novice archers are welcome to join, where "novice archers" must have successfully completed a beginners course run by EAC or another GNAS affiliated club.

  • The EAC field is large enough for one-way 180 yd clout, and clout shoots are held on Wednesday evenings during the summer.
  • The refurbished clubhouse has disabled access and facilities.
  • The small indoor range is for practising technique and beginners classes.
  • There are regular club shoots, occasional barbecues and fun shoots.

We host county matches and open shoots, with up to 18 bosses:

Sunday April 27th 2008
County Match: LAA vs. Shropshire: UK Record Status FITA

Sunday May 25th 2008
Open Tournament: UK Record Status Double FITA 70m RESULTS

Eccles are not holding a Double American in 2008

Beginners courses are held three or four times a year, by arrangement with our coaches. The next courses will be in the:

  • Autumn/winter of 2008/9: Oct, Nov, Feb
  • 6 x 2 hour sessions are held on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings over a period of three weeks.
  • Training takes place using various types of bow and all equipment is provided.
  • Classes are already filling up for the year 200/9.

Junior Archers & Eccles Archery Club

For safety, insurance and child protection reasons, as well as the GNAS rules of Shooting, no archery club will allow under 18s to shoot by themselves.

Eccles archery club welcomes juniors. However, unlike most clubs, we have 24/7 access and there are no set times for shooting. This has caused problems in the past - including frustration for the juniors - and we now insist that all juniors have a parent or designated guardian who is both a qualified archer and a full shooting member of EAC.

Therefore, if a junior wants to take the beginners course then a parent or guardian must also take the lessons. Similarly, if a junior wants to join the club, then a parent or guardian must also join the club as a full shooting member.

Contact Mark Leach of EAC for further details, check-out other local clubs here, or contact Archery World who offer classes all the year round.
