Eccles
Archery Club
Welcome
to the Eccles Archery Club web page |
 |
Eccles Archery Club, EAC, was founded in 1953 and our grounds are to be found on the the western
edge of Greater Manchester, just off the M60. We are affiliated
to the Lancashire Archery Association (LAA),
the Northern Counties Archery Society (NCAS)
and the Grand National Archery Society (GNAS),
Our grounds are secure
with 24-7 access for members. Recurve, compound, longbow and novice archers
are welcome to join, where "novice archers" must have successfully
completed a beginners course run by EAC, another GNAS affiliated club or Archery World at Preston.
- The EAC field is
large enough for one-way 180 yd clout, and clout shoots are held on
Wednesday evenings during the summer.
- The clubhouse has disabled access and facilities.
- Our 12y indoor
range is for practicing technique and beginners classes.
- There are regular
club shoots, occasional barbecues and fun shoots.
We host county matches
and open shoots, with up to 18 bosses:
Sunday May 16th
2010: County Match Lachashire vs. Cheshire vs. Warwickshire
Sunday May 23rd
2010: UK Record Status Double FITA 70m Open Tournament ENTRY FORM
Beginners courses
are held three or four times a year, by arrangement with our coaches.
The next courses will be in the:
- Autumn/winter of
2009/10: Oct, Nov, Feb, March
- 6 x 2 hour sessions
are held on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings over a period of
three weeks.
- Training takes
place using various types of bow and all equipment is provided.

Junior Archers
& Eccles Archery Club
For safety,
insurance and child protection reasons, as well as the GNAS rules
of Shooting, no archery club will allow under 18s to shoot by themselves.
Eccles archery
club welcomes juniors. However, unlike most clubs, we have 24/7
access and there are no set times for shooting. This has caused
problems in the past - including frustration for the juniors - and
we now insist that all juniors have a parent or designated guardian
who is both a qualified archer and a full shooting member of EAC.
Therefore, if
a junior wants to take the beginners course then a parent or guardian
must also take the lessons. Similarly, if a junior wants to join
the club, then a parent or guardian must also join the club as a
full shooting member.
